Transforming Travel Booking With ZoomAndGo

ZoomAndGo was a travel-tech company that pivoted from a consumer-facing hotel review site to a B2B corporate travel booking platform.

Role:
UX Design, UI Design, Consulting. I redesigned clunky, inefficient legacy interfaces into intuitive, streamlined tools for corporate travel agents, focusing on usability and data visualization.

The Problem

ZoomAndGo started as an ambitious consumer-focused startup aiming to provide unbiased hotel reviews, predating platforms like TripAdvisor. As the travel tech landscape evolved, ZoomAndGo pivoted to a B2B platform for corporate travel agents. The core challenge was redesigning clunky, inefficient legacy interfaces into a user-friendly tool that could serve the high-pressure needs of corporate travel agents.

The Goal

The goal was to leverage their proprietary mapping technology to build a booking platform that enabled companies to:

  • Control travel costs by enforcing policy compliance.
  • Ensure duty of care by restricting bookings to company-approved hotels.
  • Simplify the user interface for travel agents working in a high-pressure corporate environment.

My Process & Design

  1. Redesigning the Agent Interface
  2. My primary challenge was redesigning cumbersome legacy interfaces. I created a clean, responsive design that catered specifically to the needs of corporate travel agents. I focused on usability, drastically reducing the steps required to search, filter, and book hotels while keeping critical policy and duty-of-care information easily accessible.

  4. Mapping and Data Visualization
  5. I worked on the UI designs that combined ZoomAndGo's unique, pre-Google Maps mapping technology with hotel data. The goal was to create a seamless visualization of corporate-approved hotels alongside key points of interest, allowing agents to quickly assess options and make policy-compliant decisions.

Solution & Results

Lessons Learned

This project was a lesson in the power of user-centered design to drive a major business pivot. The technology was always there, but it wasn't until we redesigned the interface to solve the core workflow problems of a new user (the corporate travel agent) that the company could successfully transition to a profitable B2B model. It proves that a strategic pivot is only as good as the user experience that supports it.
